Aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, Anvil Industries was honored to be invited as one of the representatives of Taichung’s seven key industrial supply chains (in this case, the bicycle sector) to participate in the “Working Together for Net Zero & Sustainability—Taichung’s Industrial Net-Zero Emissions Declaration Press Conference,” held on December 19, 2024. Organized by the Taichung City Government in collaboration with the Low-Carbon Industry Sustainable Development Alliance (LCIA) and various industry associations, the event underscored a collective pledge to embrace net-zero transformation and sustainable operations. Notably, any carbon emissions generated by this press conference were offset through a carbon trading platform, ensuring the event itself was carbon-neutral—reflecting Taichung City’s practical commitment to net-zero progress.

Taichung City Government’s Path to Green Upgrades and Smart Manufacturing

As global momentum for green transition accelerates, the Taichung City Government is proactively assisting businesses in achieving sustainable upgrades through innovation, smart technology, and low-carbon solutions. By mobilizing large corporations to lead the way, the city connects upstream and downstream suppliers to adopt low-carbon and intelligent processes. The government also encourages private-sector use of renewable energy and energy-saving measures via projects like “Renewable Energy Requirements for Major Power Consumers,” “Low-Carbon Mall Certification,” and “Green Energy Competitions.” As of October 2024, Taichung’s total installed renewable energy capacity reached 788 MW, reducing annual carbon emissions by 490,000 metric tons—equivalent to the carbon absorption of 2,721 Central Parks. These initiatives lay a strong foundation for sustainable industry development.

Anvil Industries’ Commitment to Sustainability and Smart Transition

Anvil Industries firmly recognizes that net-zero transformation is not merely a global trend but also a key factor in boosting international competitiveness and brand value within the bicycle industry. By taking part in this press conference, we reaffirmed the importance of continued investment in green manufacturing R&D, striving to reduce the carbon footprint across each product’s lifecycle. We’re committed to forging strategic alliances with suppliers and partners, fostering smarter, lower-carbon production processes. These efforts aim to establish a resilient, long-lasting development model for the bicycle industry in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Simultaneously, the Taichung City Government is providing a range of support programs and resources, such as the Taichung City ESG Counseling Team, the Taichung City Sunshine A+ Competition, the Advanced Smart Manufacturing Academy for Enterprises, the Net-Zero Emissions Audit Plan for Key Factories, the Green Collar Talent Training Camp for SMEs in Taichung, and the Net-Zero Transition On-Site Demonstrations and Exchange Activities. Through hands-on guidance and resource allocation, businesses can identify crucial transformation pathways and accelerate their green upgrades.

Real-World Industry Success Stories and Practical Insights

During the press conference, Yuan Run Feng Casting Co. and Dragon Steel Corp. shared practical cases of smart manufacturing and AI-driven energy management, revealing how innovative technology can optimize processes and deliver tangible, replicable carbon-reduction results. These trailblazing enterprises provide valuable learning opportunities for the broader industry as it pursues net-zero objectives—injecting fresh inspiration into the bicycle sector.

Over the past year, Anvil Industries has also proactively integrated solar power and renewable energy solutions into our operations, further lowering our manufacturing carbon emissions. Through the installation of solar panels and the implementation of an intelligent energy management system, we’ve not only reduced reliance on conventional energy sources but also ensured a more stable power supply during peak usage periods. This “green self-sufficiency” reflects the global net-zero trend while marking a pivotal step in the sustainable development of the bicycle industry.

Looking Ahead: Building a Sustainable Value Chain for the Bicycle Industry

While Taichung City continues to showcase strong performance in environmental, economic, and social initiatives—receiving frequent recognition in magazine polls and standing out in multiple indices—the local government’s efforts underscore the city’s ambitious transformation toward a sustainable economy. Officials at all levels, including city council members and legislative representatives, attended the event, demonstrating broad-based support for net-zero goals across government, industry, and research circles.

Going forward, Anvil Industries will keep learning from pioneering enterprises and leverage the resources and support mechanisms provided by the city government. We firmly believe that only by deepening low-carbon, intelligent manufacturing can the bicycle industry compete more effectively on the global stage. Alongside the Taichung City Government and our industry partners, we remain dedicated to achieving the shared goal of 2050 net-zero emissions, constructing a more resilient and sustainable value chain for the bicycle sector—and setting a successful example for industry-wide transformation.
